DESIGN STRATEGY FACILITATION MIXED METHODS RESEARCH

Hello,

I’m Kat Ward.

I help teams find clarity in the grey area by turning complex, ambiguous problems into direction everyone can act on.

I show up in the room, literally. Whether it’s a co-design workshop, a stakeholder alignment session, or a messy 0→1 discovery, I bring warmth, rigor, and a systems lens to problems that resist easy answers.

I'm a strategist and researcher with over 7 years of experience across education, AI, tech, financial services, and e-commerce. But the throughline isn't the industries — it's the moments when a team is facing something genuinely hard and needs someone who can help them see clearly.

I bring people together. I ask the questions no one else is asking. I synthesize what's said and unsaid into frameworks that give teams a path forward — and I do all of it with the belief that the people closest to a problem are part of its solution.

That perspective — rooted in equity, systems thinking, and deep curiosity — shapes every engagement I take on, whether it's a focused research sprint or a long-term fractional partnership.

What I bring to every engagement

Equity-centered: the people most affected by a system should shape it
Systems-minded: no problem exists in isolation — context is everything
Deeply collaborative: the best insights come from the room, not from behind a desk

Facilitation & workshops

When the problem needs a room

Some problems can't be solved at a desk. When you need to bring diverse stakeholders together, surface what people actually think, and leave with shared direction — that's where I thrive.

"Kat created a space where people who hadn't agreed on anything in months left the session aligned. She has a rare ability to hold complexity without rushing to resolve it."

Stakeholder alignment

Bringing together decision-makers, subject experts, and end users to build shared understanding and surface competing priorities early.

Co-design & co-creation

Participatory sessions where the people affected by a problem help shape its solution — grounding decisions in lived experience.

Discovery & sense-making

Early-stage sessions to define the problem space, synthesize what's known and unknown, and orient a team before solutions come onto the table.
